SONIC FABRIC GOODS
SONIC FABRIC is woven from 50% recorded cassette tape/50% polyester thread at a family-run textile mill in New England. It emits sound when a tape head is drawn along its surface. All pieces are hand-sewn in NYC.
One-of-a-kind works, yardage, and custom-recorded editions are available to fellow artists, designers, architects and collectors on a limited basis.
Your purchase will help Alyce Santoro & Julian Mock get to the New Music Gathering at the Peabody School of Music in January 2016 where they will be presenting their Charts of the Modes Commonly Used in Western Music!
FREE SHIPPING within the U.S. on all items (2 - 5 days)

SONIC FABRIC NECKTIES
These audible neckties (run a tape head over them and they emit sound) are wearable works of conceptual art. An ongoing collaboration between Alyce Santoro and designer Julio Cesar (ties are hand sewn by Julio in NYC).
Black ties are made from an edition of SONIC FABRIC that is recorded with a only a single frequency, 136.1Hz, the base note of the sitar and tamboura, also the note upon which Tibetan Buddhist monks often base the OM chant.
Brown, gray, plum, and cobalt ties are made from the BETWEEN STATIONS edition of sound collages based on life in New York City.
QUANTITIES EXTREMELY LIMITED. We are down to the last few of our gray, plum, and cobalt...once these are gone, these colors will no longer be available.
